It's not ss efficient you get half the force for each cranck shaft; the 2nd one needs a gearbox to redirect the force to the first one, so adds more weight, so even less force. So there's no reason to use them in cars; but in ships and subs you xan have to Axels. 1 thing in favor is that it saves space. This is my take

I feel like if the internal combustion engine ever had a poster child it would be the V8 motor. It's an engine that's used in pretty much everything: from affordable muscle cars for regular folks to high end European exotica for rich folks. These engines have been naturally aspirated, turbocharged, supercharged and even twincharged. They've been as tiny as 2 or 1.5 litres in displacement to as large as 8.2 litres or even 10.4 litres. They've even had different sounds: some V8s growl (like 'Murican V8s), some V8s howl (like flatplane European engines) and some scream (like the 2.4 litre F1 engines from 2006 to 2013). Surely this has to be the engine that has had the most applications out of every other type of engine configuration.

You should have used braking distance as the measure of heat added to the disks. keeping the braking distance the same, the starting speed the same, then you can guarantee both versions of disks are getting the same energy dumped into them at the same rate. This would then really tell the difference. That said. I don't believe they cool better.
